Located in the south of Ha Long Bay, Lan Ha Bay belongs to Cat Ba islands area, Hai Phong city. The Bay has its own beauty that is totally different from Halong with 139 small golden and pristine sands alluring tourists to explore.
Ideal Time to Visit
The best time to visit should be from March to June and October to November. This is when the sun mostly shines, enabling water activities and there are fewer unexpected storms happened. In December and January, the weather is regularly cloudy and cold, while in February, it’s even drizzly and foggy. However, this kind of weather still brings a unique romantic vibe for Lan Ha.
From July to September, the temperature is very high and sometimes become boiling so it might be uncomfortable in doing activities if you haven’t got used to the climate of a tropical region like Vietnam. Moreover, this is the peak season of domestic travel, so just expect locals around you.
Things to do in Lan Ha Bay
Lan Ha Bay is called the Kayaking Paradise thanks to the clean and clear water, fresh air and extremely secluded. Some famous places for kayaking are Tra Bau, Ba Trai Dao, Ba Ham Lake. Being alone or with other friends on a kayak, you will have a chance to discover the never-experienced emotions when paddling close to the rock cliff and feel the absolute calm of the area.
Some also say that kayaking is the best way to investigate the magnificence of the Bay since your kayak allows intimate access through karst formations and into covered lagoons, or along pristine shorelines skimming corners and cliffs where bigger boats can’t go.
Of course, you may find it difficult when you first make kaya hand move. When you get used to it, the feeling of self-discovering caves will blow you out!
Bay, Island, Beach, Summer, We can not mention swimming. There are many beautiful beaches for you to swim in Lan Ha Bay. Tourists often swim at Money Island and Van Boi Con island. Rock climbing in Lan Ha Bay
Cat Ba has beautiful hiking spots, poetic and has many relatively easy climb, it is the preferred location of new domestic tourist’s access or no mountaineering skills as the technology improved abroad “colleagues”. It is located on “Tien Ong” island on Lan Ha Bay to a small island cave and the rest is rock with big stalactites. This is the ideal spot to climb, low cliffs, climbing routes simple, suitable for people afraid of adventure.
There are many best climbing routes in Cat Ba which are accessible at high tide. Topography and water depth here is suitable for free climbing on the sea. Or cliff right is next to Beo wharf, one of the main port of the island of Cat Ba, place of origin of the tourist train visit Lan Ha Bay, adjacent to Cat Ba town.
Visit Cai Beo floating village
Cai Beo village is just about 2 km from Cat Ba town, also 2 km to Monkey Island Resort. You can come here by taxi or moto taxi then go by a small boat to visit the village. The scenery here is very beautiful with hundreds of floating houses staying under the islets like a stone garden.
